I also didn't get to discuss with you (although I had mentioned it earlier) of including a heading for Economists or "Important People to Know" etc.

For more info on J.Perkins (plus an introduction to an excellent source of news see this link: http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=04/11/09/1526251

and his own site:

http://www.johnperkins.org/

His story is related to what I suggested in an earlier discussion about non-capitalist countries where people are desperate enough to take 7 cent and hour jobs as compared with a highly socialized country like Sweden where captialism is kept in check with strict policiies (social democratic) where no one would take those jobs.

Also - I just realized that their might be room in your Glossary for the term "social democratic" - hint - a mid-way point between socialism and capitalism - Also - don't forget about Chavez.
a former respected member" did the rest of the banking community disown him?

The industrial revolution begins in the 18th century - the rise of capitalism, however, begins much earlier.

I actually got a good site by typing "capitalism" as a subject heading search and from there selected web sties and got this url http://regentsprep.org/Regents/global/themes/economic/glob.cfm

from regents prep - this is good info you should put on your page. I also ran some other searches in SIRS and got some more articles that are very interesting for your topic.

I did a search on SIRS advanced search "history" and "capitalism" and then I saw the subject heading"captialism:" li9nked under an article and pressed that and then I got some really interesting things:

"The Discreet Virtues of the Bourgeoisie"

"Towards Life After Capitalism: An Introduction to Participatory Economics"

from that article I found the subject heading Subject: "Comparative economics" and I got this article: "Economic Inequality in the United States"

and also this subject heading: "Economics, Sociological aspects"

Also this article under "websites"

Ecology Against Capitalism by John Bellamy Foster with the advanced serach CAPITALISM AND RISE OF

Then I did a proximity search of those terms and got this: "The Rise of Disaster Capitalism" By Naomi Klein
