1)Brakenridge was a geologist who specializes in studying the shape and structure of the topography produced by rivers. He had a idea that was to see how well satellite imagery of the floods matched up with the conditions on the ground.
2)When the flood began, so many scientists just dropped whatever they were doing and focused on the Mississippi.
3)His study of the Great Mississippi Flood of 1993 with remote-sensing data was the launching off point for what has become Brakenridge's passion for the last decade: creating a satellite-based, global atlas of flood hazards and putting the information into the hands of disaster relief and planning organizations.
2 things that I found intersting was...
1)Something that I found intersting is that the hope that as his flood archive covers more of the globe over a longer time, patterns will emerge that will help people prepare for floods more confidently.
2)Another intersting thing I found is that predicting the flooding of a specific river several months in advance might never be possible, but a global, long-term archive of flood events could reveal possible teleconnections between flooding events in different locations. Teleconnections are climate anomalies that are related but often widely spaced in distance and/or time.
1 question that I still have is...
1)A question that I have is how long did the flood last for, How long did it take for the water to dispear.
1)China launched a satellite-destroying weaponS but did not want to conferm the test.
2)The U.S. and other contries wanted an explination for the launch but china said that they informed the U.S. and japan, but no other contries.
3)China is spending two to three times more on its military than the 35 billion dollars a year it has.
2 things that I found intersting was...
1)Something that I found intersting was that no contries tried to stop China or make them face the consiquences of there actions.
2)Another intersting thing that I found was that China has enough advance technology to blow up the satellites.
1 question that I still have is...
1)A question that I have is why didn't the UN punish China for what they did.
1)There are more than 9,000 other items in space that are tracked by the GEODSS system.
2)GEODSS performs its mission using a one-meter telescope equipped with highly sensitive digital camera technology, known as Deep stare.
3)Space is known as a high ground that allows people to communicate throughtout the world.
2 things that I found intersting was...
1)Something I found intersting was that telescopes are able to "see" objects 10,000 times dimmer than the human eye can detect.
2)Another thing was our space-based assets are protected from potential on-orbit collisions or from adversaries who might try to take away our abilities to operate in space.
1 queston that I still have is...
1)A question that I have is if a satellite zooms into earth real close would it be able to see very small living things or objects.
1)The GPS systems have 24 satellites in the air by itself, of 11,00 miles.
2)GPS receivers can be hand carried or installed on aircraft, ships, tanks, submarines, cars, and trucks.
3)The GPS that satellites take has 12 hours to orbit the earth to point things out.
2 things that I found intersting was...
1)Something that I found intersting was that GPS has three segments, they are Space segments, User segments and Control segments.
2Another thing is that without GPS system the miltary would have a hard time protecting us.
1 question that I still have is...
1)A questiong that I have is were would the world be without GPS.
1)Everyday people are being photographed either if they are by themselves or in a crowd.
2)The British are probably the most watched people on Earth.
3)Cheap cameras, bad lighting and knackered videotapes all add up to images that look like they've been taken in a vat full of onion soup.
2 things that I found intersting was...
1)Something I found inersting was that every second of your life you are being photographed by satellite cameras.
2)Another thing I found intersting is that these satellite cameras are even finding their way into and around homes.
1 question that I still have is...
1)A question I have is if they use satellite cameras for photographing something else other then humans.
1)Photovoltaic cells on a satellite would convert sunlight into electrical current, which would, in turn, power an onboard microwave generator.
2)A microwave system that is 80 percent efficient at sending 1 kilowatt will still be 80 percent efficient at sending 1 megawatt.
3)One important consideration in planning space power is the expense of putting a satellite into orbit.
2 things that I found intersting was...
1)Something I found intersting was that solar power satellites would require far less land to generate electricity.
2)Another intersting thing I found was that the most important source of light can be used to give us electricity.
1 question that I still have is...
1)A question I have is if our power on earth ever run out.

Three things I discovered.
1) This year European Commission and the European Space Agency is launching the project Galileo.
2) Galileo is supposed to be more accurate and stronger signals than a GPS.
3) Galileo has in total 30 orbiting satellites.
Two things I found interesting.
1) That satellites are still improving everyday.
2) Galileo is going to be far better than GPS and its going to help out a lot in navigation.
One question I still have.
1) Why cant Satellites spy indoors?
