Computers in the Work Place
Since computers have been around for a while now, it is pretty common for people to know how to use them. Its even more common to have them at jobs. Its a fact that it makes life easier. We use computers in our everyday lives to help us with our problems and to organize our work. After the personal computer came into affect, the economy has boomed. It affects our everyday lives and how we do things and im sure it will affect our future.
According to Current Population Reports, in May 2004, 20.7 million persons usually did some work at home as part of their primary job. About 8 in 10 of those engaged in job-related work at home in May 2004 used a computer as part of their work at home. Many people have jobs that they can do from home. I find from this information that people are getting more lazier because they have computers at home to finish their work, when they could be finished with it at work. They are not getting more work done because of this compared to doing additional work to get ahead. People using computers has grownfrom 18 percent in 1984, to 36 percent in 1993, to 64 percent in 2003. In 2003, 63 percent of women and 51 percent of men used a computer at work. The workplace is central to people's sense of well-being and is more important to them than anything, including family.
Money spent on computing technology delivers gains in worker productivity that are three to five times those of other investments.
information technology industry itself was unlikely to be a big source of new jobs.
the economic significance of information technology is less in the technology itself than in the capacity of computer hardware, software and services to transform other sectors of the economy.
